Now that it's been confirmed that the filmaker will not actually be directing The Haunted Mansion the next question becomes what will Del Toro be working on. According to Total Sci-Fi Online, the director's next directorial project will be a movie based on the Lovecraft novella, At the Mountains of Madness.
Total Recall Remake
Underworld director Len Wiseman is currently in negotiations to direct a remake of the movie Total Recall. The director is planning to base the movie less on the Schwarzenegger hit and more on Philip K. Dick's short story which the movie was originally based on.

After teasing fans at SDCC with rumours of Urban being offered the role of Judge Dredd, the actor has confirmed that he will indeed be playing the character in the upcoming movie which will be scripted by Alex Garland.

Total Sci-fi Online is reporting that screenwriter Nick Cave, yes, as in Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, is working on a script for an updated version of The Crow. No word yet as to who will be playing the lead role.
Battleship Casting Announcement
Reports are emerging that singer Rihanna will be joining True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard and Taylor Kitsch on the new Peter Berg movie version of the board game Battleship. The movie is set for a summer 2012 release and will see an alien fleet arriving to invade Earth.
The Avengers
At SDCC, Joss Whedon officially confirmed that he would be directing the upcoming Avengers movie. While he remained tightlipped about script developments, he did confirm that he had cast The Hurt Locker's Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.
Del Toro Confirms Post-Hobbit Project
Now that director Guillermo Del Toro is officially off The Hobbit, he made an announcement at the Disney panel, that his new movie would be a live-action version of The Haunted Mansion, which will be shot in 3D.
New Spider-Man Finally Cast
The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Sony has found their new Peter Parker for the upcoming Spider-Man reboot. Andrew Garfield best known for his role in the Red Riding series and his role as Anton in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnarssus will play the young Peter Parker which returns the character back to high scool where he must deal with his uncle's death and his new powers.
Andy Serkis in new Apes Movie
Andy Serkis, made famous for his motion capture work as Gollum in the Lord of the Rings trilogy has offically signed on board for the new prequel to Planet fo the Apes, titled Rise of the Apes. Serkis will play the leader of the apes, Caesar. The actor joins a cast that already includes John Lithgow, Freida Pinto and James Franco.
