The Thing Prequel Ready to Shoot
According to Total Sci-Fi Online Ronald D. Moore's prequel to John Carpenter's 1980s classic, The Thing is preparing to shoot between March and June. The prequel will follow the story of the Norwegian camp that first finds the creature.
New Director for Dune
SFX reports that a new director has been found for the Dune remake. The remake was supposed to be directed by Peter Berg but Berg dropped out leaving Pierre Morel, the director of Taken, to fill his shoes.

Kevin Bacon Takes on the Crimson Bolt
Kevin Bacon is joining the cast of the new James Gunn comedy Super as Jacques, the bad guy who lures Rainn Wilson's wife, played by Liv Tyler, forcing Wilson to take on a newpersona in order to save her.
Peter Jackson Adapts Mortal Engines
Peter Jackson is continuing to keep himself busy, this time by adapting the Philip Reeve novels, Mortal Engines. According to Total Sc-iFi Online Jackson's Weta Workshop is currently working on designs for Reeve's postapocalyptic world.
SyFy to Air Stephen King's Haven
SyFy has confirmed that the new Stephen King adaptation will be aired on SyFy as part of a 13 episode series. The series will be based on the novella by Stephen King about a town called Haven populated by those with supernatural powers.

Smallville: Justice Society
Total Sci-Fi reports that the CW will air the Justice Society storyline as a two part episode on 29th January. The episode will feature characters such as Stargirl, Dr. fate and the Martian Manhunter. Look for special guests such as Michael Shanks and Pam Grier to make appearances.
New Ray Bradbury Miniseries
Ray Bradbury is apparently now working on a six hour miniseries. Each episode of the miniseries will be directed by a different director who will adapt their favourite Bradbury story.
Unaired Star Trek Episode to be Released on Blu-ray
THR reports that a collector in Germany has uncovered a version of Where No Man Has Gone Before (one of the two pilot episodes shot for Star Trek). This episode is reported to be quite different from the original and shows a completely different portrayal of Captain Kirk. Since the collector contacted Paramount about this version, the studios have decided to release this version on Blu-ray on 15th December.
Dollhouse is Cancelled
THR is reporting and Joss Whedon himself has confirmed this over at Whedonesque that the Fox network has indeed cancelled Dollhouse. However, the network will still continue to air all 13 episodes of the second season as promised.
